Hi, there!
I’m Ahmad Alhour, a computer scientist by education and a software engineer by trade, originally from 🇯🇴 Amman, Jordan, and currently living in 🇩🇪 Munich, Germany.
I like following systems all the way down: from slick product interfaces and reliable backends to infrastructure, networks and storage.
Previously, I led product engineering at Shopify, product & data engineering at TrustYou, built global data infrastructure at HubSpot, and co-founded Vamu, a cybersecurity startup (since exited).
This is my digital spot where I write about software, books, philosophy, and whatever else I’m currently curious about. I also publish hacks, tinkers, and side projects I’ve built over the years… mostly for fun, and rarely for profit.
I build interactive animations when words need a moving picture, publish some of my talks, and sometimes lose myself in mathematical puzzles.
When I’m not building or debugging things, I’m usually reading something. Recent favorites include: The Beginning of Infinity, The Optimistic Child, and What If?… which is probably a fair summary of my reading taste: scientific explanation, parenting, and ridiculous hypotheticals! You can find more of that trail on my Goodreads.
